Chamber of Commerce plans Leadership Academy targeting people interested in running for public office: Local to State

The Chamber e-Connection for June 9, 2009 promotes a Leadership Academy.

Thinking about running for elected office? This two day Leadership Academy is targeting anyone interested in running for office (City, County or State) in November 2009 or later.

Thursday, June 25 from 8:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Friday, June 26 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Robin B. Tucker, Resident of District 3 Cedar Rapids, Iowa USA

My parents are I.L. "Tommy" and LaVerne Tucker, who met at Coe College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My parents were married at the former Central Park church in Cedar Rapids. My parents celebrated their 60Th wedding anniverary in January of 2009. Also, I have a older sister and a brother.

I attended the Cedar Rapids Community Schools and am a graduate of George Washington Senior High School. I graduated from Creighton University, College of Business Administration, as an accounting major.

I am a 3rd generation resident of the City of Five Seasons. I am a married to my wife, Carole. We met at Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. We have three children.

I worked previously in public accounting in Omaha, before I returned with my wife to my hometown to join my father and mother in business.

I am a strong fan of college football, including the Unversity of Iowa, among other programs. In college basketball, I follow my Creighton Jays and the Iowa Hawkeyes; among other programs in the The Valley, the Big Ten, and the Big 12 ...
