June 18 to July 4, 2009: The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival begins ...

The 26Th annual Freedom Festival ... look at the event

As a native of Cedar Rapids, I didn't grow up with the Freedom Festival. However, it has been a regular event for us, since Carole and I moved to Cedar Rapids in 1988. For our kids, each summer and the approaching Fourth of July has witnessed another Freedom Festival beginning in our community. Today, marks the beginning of this year's event.

Robin B. Tucker, Resident of District 3 Cedar Rapids, Iowa USA

My parents are I.L. "Tommy" and LaVerne Tucker, who met at Coe College, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My parents were married at the former Central Park church in Cedar Rapids. My parents celebrated their 60Th wedding anniverary in January of 2009. Also, I have a older sister and a brother.

I attended the Cedar Rapids Community Schools and am a graduate of George Washington Senior High School. I graduated from Creighton University, College of Business Administration, as an accounting major.

I am a 3rd generation resident of the City of Five Seasons. I am a married to my wife, Carole. We met at Creighton University, in Omaha, Nebraska. We have three children.

I worked previously in public accounting in Omaha, before I returned with my wife to my hometown to join my father and mother in business.

I am a strong fan of college football, including the Unversity of Iowa, among other programs. In college basketball, I follow my Creighton Jays and the Iowa Hawkeyes; among other programs in the The Valley, the Big Ten, and the Big 12 ...
